Thirty-one premature babies evacuated from the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in the Gaza Strip arrived at the Rafah crossing, where they are scheduled to be distributed to hospitals in Egypt, the Associated Press reported.

“Over 250 patients with severely infected wounds and other urgent conditions remained stranded days after Israeli forces entered the compound to look for Hamas operations,” the AP added.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that the evacuation of infants from the Al-Shifa Hospital came in consultation with the World Health Organization and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

According to the General Director of Hospitals in the Gaza Strip, Muhammad Zaqout, four children died two days before the start of the evacuation operation.
