Arabic version: سجن ثلاثة رجال بتهمة قتل راكبي أمواج في المكسيك

According to BBC News, a Mexican judge sentenced three men to 158 years and nine months in prison each for the murders of Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson and their US friend Carter Rhoad.

The three men were convicted over the deaths of the surfers, who were killed during a 2024 trip to Baja California. The court heard that the men were the victims of an apparent botched robbery of their truck on a secluded beach.

The victims’ bodies were found dumped down a well with gunshot wounds to their heads. They had crossed into Mexico from the United States barely 36 hours before the killings, while their bodies were found a week later and identified by their families.

The defendants were identified only as Jesús Gerardo, Irineo Francisco and Ángel Jesús for legal reasons. In a separate trial in November last year, the girlfriend of alleged ringleader Jesús Gerardo, also known as “El Kekas”, received a 20-year prison sentence after admitting involvement in the robbery.

The guilty verdict was delivered last week. Debra Robinson, mother of Jake and Callum, told the court that the murders had taken “the future we had imagined with them”. The killings shocked residents and tourists in Ensenada, a beach town known as a welcoming destination for surfers and an important tourism area in Baja California.
