Tiger Woods has pleaded not guilty to charges arising from his car crash in Florida last week. The 50-year-old golfer was arrested after his vehicle collided with a truck and rolled over on Friday. Nobody was injured.

According to BBC News, court documents from Martin County show that Woods entered a written plea of not guilty via his lawyers. The incident was further complicated by a police report that indicated Woods was found with two hydrocodone pills in his pocket and was observed acting lethargic and slow while sweating profusely.

Woods, a 15-time major winner, was kept in jail for eight hours after the incident – the minimum allowed under state law – before being released on bail. In addition to driving under the influence, he faces charges of property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

The police report noted that Woods was observed limping and stumbling at the scene. He attributed the crash to distraction from his phone while changing radio stations. Despite passing a breathalyzer test, Woods refused a urinalysis test for other drugs.

There has been no public statement from Woods or the PGA Tour regarding the incident. The golfer has been recovering from rupturing an Achilles tendon in March 2025 and back surgery in October, and had recently participated in competitive golf events, hinting at a potential return to the Masters next month.
