From 1 October, New South Wales motorists travelling on Northconnex, the Westlink M7, Cross City Tunnel, Hills M2, Lane Cove Tunnel, M5 South West and the Eastern Distributor will be hit with the fourth toll increase in the calendar year with tolls.
Tolls on five of those toll roads have leapt by 6 per cent over the year, as higher inflation feeds into higher toll prices.
This is a double hit for drivers as petrol prices increase at the same time.
Dominic Perrottet and the NSW Liberals are responsible for Sydney being the most tolled city in the world.
The Premier has locked many of the state’s toll roads into increases of at least four per cent a year. Tolls are rising faster than that, as the latest inflation increases feed through to toll contracts.
This will increase the total amount of tolls that drivers have been signed up to by this government. It was already $115 billion in today’s dollars over the life of these contracts. It is now rising.
NSW Labor has already announced that a Minns Labor Government will keep the Sydney Harbour Tunnel toll concession in public hands and return revenue from both the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and the Sydney Harbour Bridge to drivers in the form of additional toll relief.

“From this weekend, motorists will be slugged with yet another quarterly toll increase by this government when they drive on these seven Sydney tolls roads.”
“The cost of living is already through the roof – petrol prices are going up and some tolls have now risen 6 per cent this year. It’s hitting motorists where it hurts, the hip pocket.”
“Dominic Perrottet has locked in drivers to paying at least $115 billion of tolls over the next forty years.”
