Arabic version: توم وهوما بازبي يصطحبان الحياة العائلية في جولة
According to ABC News, singer Tom Busby and his wife Huma are travelling around Australia with their four children, combining family life with Tom’s solo music work. The couple’s plans follow years in which touring and work often left them managing family and business responsibilities separately.
Tom, one half of Busby Marou alongside Jeremy Marou, met Huma in Sydney in 2011 after the final show of the group’s first major national tour. Huma, originally from Houston, Texas, had been living in Australia for about four years when an Australian friend took her to see the band. The pair stayed in touch on Facebook, began seeing each other after Tom returned to Sydney several months later, and had a long-distance relationship for about a year and a half.
Huma later travelled to Rockhampton to meet Tom’s large family. Tom, the youngest of eight, said bringing a partner home was a serious step. The couple became engaged after about a year and a half together and married in 2014. They have four children: daughters Winifred, Marigold and Henrietta, and son Herbert. Their eldest is 10 and their youngest is four.
The family’s current caravan trip is linked to the release of Tom’s first solo album, Rockhampton Hangover, while Busby Marou are on a break. Huma said the family had previously spent six weeks together in America for a holiday and to record the album, an experience that encouraged them to take the children to places Tom had visited for performances. The children have begun homeschooling during the trip, while Tom and Huma say sharing the work and mental load has brought them closer.
