Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team principal, has expressed that a return to Formula 1 will be difficult for former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. Wolff stated that Horner has “broken quite a lot of glass,” referencing the controversies surrounding Horner’s departure from Red Bull, according to BBC News.

Horner was sacked in July after 20 years in his role following declining form and internal disputes. He faced allegations of sexual harassment and coercive, controlling behaviour, but was cleared of these claims following two separate investigations.

Wolff acknowledged the intense rivalry he shared with Horner over the years, noting that while Horner’s personality was controversial, it added a dynamic element to the sport. He mentioned that the Formula 1 landscape is currently missing personalities like Horner, who has led Red Bull to eight drivers’ titles and six constructors’ championships.

Despite the past tensions, Wolff indicated that he does not wish Horner ill and recognizes the achievements he made during his tenure in F1. Horner, who has expressed a desire to return to the sport, was previously overlooked for a position at Aston Martin last year. Wolff remarked on the complexities of their relationship, suggesting that even rivals can find common ground over time.
