Arabic version: توتنهام هوتسبير يؤمن ساندروا تونالي في صفقة قياسية بقيمة 100 مليون جنيه إسترليني
Tottenham Hotspur has finalized a groundbreaking deal with Newcastle United for midfielder Sandro Tonali, valued at up to £100 million. This marks a significant moment for Spurs, as it represents their second record-breaking transfer within a week. The agreement includes an initial payment of £92.5 million, with an additional £7.5 million in performance-related add-ons.
According to BBC News, Spurs previously had a bid of about £80 million turned down by Newcastle before reaching this new agreement. The club’s manager, Roberto De Zerbi, has long admired Tonali, having identified him as a target during his tenure at Sassuolo when Tonali was playing in Serie A.
With this acquisition, Spurs will surpass the £85 million deal made for Mateus Fernandes from West Ham earlier this week. The interest in Tonali was not limited to Tottenham; Manchester City and Arsenal also showed an interest, although neither club made a formal approach.
The transfer comes at a critical time for Newcastle, who have seen key players like Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon depart in recent months. The club has only managed to sign 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, leaving them in need of further reinforcements as the new season approaches. The pressure is on Newcastle to bolster their squad after missing out on forward Victor Munoz, who joined Liverpool instead.
