Arabic version: منافس مدعوم من ترامب يهزم ماسي في الانتخابات التمهيدية التاريخية في كنتاكي
Donald Trump has tightened his grip on the Republican Party following the defeat of Congressman Thomas Massie in the Kentucky Republican House primary. Massie lost to Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy Seal, by a margin of 55% to 45% in what has been described as the most expensive House primary in U.S. history, reportedly drawing over $32 million in spending.
According to The Guardian, Trump’s support for Gallrein came after Massie diverged from the president on key issues, including the war on Iran and the release of the Epstein files. In his concession speech, Massie emphasized the importance of voting for principles rather than party loyalty, warning against the dangers of mob rule in governance.
This primary marks another significant win for Trump, who has successfully ousted dissenting Republican incumbents in various states through strategic endorsements. The results from Kentucky come as voters in five other states also participated in primary elections, marking one of the largest primary nights of the year.
Looking ahead, Trump’s influence will be tested in Texas, where he has endorsed Attorney General Ken Paxton in his attempt to unseat four-term incumbent Senator John Cornyn in an upcoming runoff election. Trump’s endorsements continue to shape the Republican landscape as the party prepares for the November elections.
