Arabic version: ترامب يدعي أن العمل العسكري الأمريكي في إيران قد ينتهي قريبًا
President Trump has stated that US military action in Iran could end as soon as “two or three weeks,” with or without a deal brokered between the two sides. He emphasized that the US has achieved its goals in the country, primarily that of curtailing Iran’s ability to obtain a nuclear weapon, and is now “finishing the job.”
According to BBC News, Trump’s comments come after a month-long conflict initiated by US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28. He asserted that the US would leave Iran “very soon,” suggesting that the timeline for withdrawal could be determined by Iran’s compliance or willingness to negotiate.
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian indicated that Tehran is prepared to end the conflict if certain conditions are satisfied. He mentioned the need for guarantees to prevent future aggression, highlighting the complex diplomatic landscape surrounding the conflict.
Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, echoed Trump’s sentiments, noting that the end of the war appears imminent and that discussions are ongoing. However, he cautioned against any negotiations that could serve as a stall tactic.
The situation remains volatile, with ongoing strikes reported from both sides. The US Central Command has released footage of its forces targeting underground military sites in Iran, while Israel has claimed to have attacked an Iranian facility linked to chemical weapon production. The conflict has also escalated in the Gulf region, where Iranian attacks on US military bases have prompted responses from Saudi Arabia and other regional actors.
