US President Donald Trump has instructed government agencies, including the defense department, to initiate the process of identifying and releasing files related to aliens and extraterrestrial life. This announcement came via a post on Truth Social, following remarks made by former President Barack Obama, who suggested that aliens are real during a recent podcast interview.

According to BBC News, Trump criticized Obama for discussing classified information, claiming, “He’s not supposed to be doing that,” and added that Obama made a big mistake. When asked about his own beliefs regarding aliens, Trump stated, “Well, I don’t know if they’re real or not.”

Obama’s comments, made during an interview with podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen, indicated he believes in the statistical possibility of extraterrestrial life, although he clarified that he saw no evidence of contact with aliens during his presidency. He emphasized that there are no hidden facilities like Area 51 housing extraterrestrial beings.

Despite Trump’s directive to release files on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), including UFOs, the Pentagon reported in a 2024 assessment that there was “no evidence” of encounters with alien life and attributed most UFO sightings to ordinary objects. A recent hearing in the US House of Representatives regarding UAPs did not yield any substantial revelations about alien existence.

This exchange between Trump and Obama highlights the ongoing political rivalry between the two figures, with Trump and Obama representing opposing parties and viewpoints on various issues, including the existence of extraterrestrial life.
