According to BBC News, US President Donald Trump will arrive at Dublin Airport on Saturday morning for a two-day visit to Ireland. He is due to make a courtesy call on Irish President Catherine Connolly and hold a bilateral meeting with Taoiseach Micheál Martin.

Trump will also attend events at the residence of the US Ambassador to Ireland, Ed Walsh, in Dublin’s Phoenix Park. On Friday night, he boarded Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, near Washington DC, for the trip. Trump previously visited the Republic of Ireland in 2019 and again in 2023.

Irish authorities have planned for the visit for months, in what is expected to be one of the largest security operations in the state’s history. Thousands of people are expected at protests in Dublin, with another protest planned in Doonbeg. A small number of crowd-control barriers have been placed near the American Embassy in central Dublin, although Trump is not scheduled to be near the building.

After his Dublin engagements, Trump will attend the Amgen Irish Open at Trump International Golf Links and Hotel Doonbeg in County Clare, which he owns. His sons Eric and Donald Trump Junior are expected to accompany him in Doonbeg. Golfer Rory McIlroy is among the players competing at the tournament.

Martin said he looked forward to welcoming Trump and discussing issues of mutual interest while reaffirming economic, cultural and people-to-people ties between Ireland and the United States. Connolly, who has been critical of Trump over tariffs, has faced calls from Sinn Féin and other parties that backed her presidential campaign to raise Gaza during her brief meeting with the US president.
