Arabic version: زيارة ترامب إلى بكين لمناقشة صراع إيران مع شي جين بينغ
Donald Trump is scheduled to arrive in Beijing on Wednesday evening for discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding the ongoing Iran war and other significant issues. According to Al Jazeera, the meeting is set to begin with an opening ceremony on Thursday morning and will conclude on Friday.
White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly emphasized the trip’s “tremendous symbolic significance,” focusing on rebalancing the U.S.-China relationship and prioritizing fairness to restore American economic independence. Trump’s visit was initially planned for earlier this year but was postponed due to the US-Israel war on Iran.
The discussions may involve pressure on China regarding its oil sales to Iran and the purchase of dual-use military-civilian goods by Tehran. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently accused China of financially supporting Iran, which he labeled as the largest state sponsor of terrorism.
Additionally, Trump may address China’s support for Russia, trade relations, and the critical issue of rare earth minerals, essential for the U.S. technology sector. A delegation including executives from Boeing and several agricultural companies will accompany Trump during his visit. An anonymous administration official noted that no changes are expected regarding the U.S. stance on Taiwan, a contentious issue in U.S.-China relations.
