According to Cnbc, Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust planned two Tuesday-afternoon sales: 40 Broadcom shares at roughly $335 each and 75 Capital One Financial shares at roughly $201 each. The moves reduce Broadcom’s portfolio weighting to 1% from 1.36% and Capital One’s to 3.1% from about 3.45%.
The Broadcom sale lowers the Trust’s stake to 120 shares. The Trust said it was trimming a small portion of its artificial-intelligence exposure after the group’s modest rebound over the past two sessions. Although Broadcom was not being sold at the same high levels reached at other points this year, the Trust said it was locking in more of its gains.
The Trust said the action was intended to protect downside risk as AI stocks face pressure over rising capital costs, a risk Broadcom Chief Executive Hock Tan acknowledged last week. It cited prior exits from Arm Holdings at around $300 in early July and Corning in the mid-$140s last month. Arm had fallen about 23% from that exit price, while Corning was about 7% lower than the Trust’s final sale level.
The Broadcom transaction will realize a 312% gain on shares purchased in August 2023, the report said. The Capital One sale, which cuts the Trust’s position to 600 shares, represents a roughly 13% gain on stock purchased in March 2025. The Trust is reducing Capital One ahead of its earnings report after the closing bell and has downgraded the stock to its hold-equivalent 2 rating.
The Capital One sale was not presented as a call on its upcoming earnings. Instead, the Trust cited disappointment that front-loaded investments tied to the Discover and Brex acquisitions have limited outsized profit beats. It also said it had recently added financial exposure through several purchases of Bank of New York, which it said lacks Capital One’s same credit exposure and sensitivity to high oil prices and inflation.
