Arabic version: توخيل يؤكد على أهمية الأجواء الاحترام قبل مواجهة المكسيك
England’s head coach Thomas Tuchel has shared his positive impressions of the atmosphere in Mexico as his team prepares to face the co-hosts in the World Cup last 16 on Monday at 01:00 BST (18:00 local time on Sunday). According to BBC News, Tuchel described the reception as “nicer than I expected,” noting that home fans have been “friendly and respectful.”
Despite the mixed reception from fans during their training departure, Tuchel reported that the team has not faced any significant issues, thanks to enhanced security measures in place. He expressed confidence in FIFA’s handling of security concerns, particularly after Ecuador’s complaint about noise disturbances prior to their match against Mexico. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a calm demeanor, stating, “If they come, we will accept them. The best way to approach is to be relaxed and calm.”
Another challenge for the England squad is the altitude of the Estadio Azteca, which is situated 7,220 feet (2,240 meters) above sea level. Tuchel acknowledged feeling the impact of the altitude since their arrival, mentioning symptoms like a slight headache and disrupted sleep. However, he remains optimistic about his team’s ability to adapt and perform well.
In response to potential changes in kick-off times and other logistical issues, Tuchel advised his players to stay focused and not get distracted. “We have the spirit, we have the commitment, we have the pure will and the glue in the team to overcome these things,” he stated, reinforcing the team’s readiness for the upcoming match.
