Arabic version: وفاة شخصين في حريق منزل بكينغستون
According to ABC News, two people have died after a house fire in Kingston, south of Brisbane, where a crime scene has been declared as authorities investigate the cause.
Emergency services were called to a two-storey home on Adelaide Street in the Logan suburb shortly after 3pm. Queensland Police said a male and a female were found inside and declared dead.
Four other occupants escaped the property and were not physically injured. Queensland Police Inspector Jason Barrowcliffe said officers were working to determine what caused the fire, adding that large plumes of smoke could be seen as far away as Holmview.
The fire took about an hour to bring under control. An emergency declaration was issued for nearby streets because of concerns for neighbouring properties, but it has since been revoked.
Neighbour Tiffany Tinker said the house was engulfed in flames within minutes. “We were scrambling,” she said. “It happened so quickly. It was horrifying. Absolutely horrifying.”
