According to ABC News, two dogs have been captured after a man was attacked in Brisbane’s north, leaving him with serious injuries to both arms.

Emergency services were called to Kittyhawk Drive in Chermside just after 6pm on Friday following reports that a man had been attacked by dogs. They found the 37-year-old injured, while the two dogs had fled the scene.

The man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and remains in a stable condition. Police found and captured one dog nearby a short time later with assistance from a police helicopter.

The second dog remained at large overnight before police located and captured it at an address in Wavell Heights on Saturday morning. Both animals are now in Brisbane City Council’s possession.

A council spokesperson said the dogs were registered at the same address and had not previously been declared dangerous. The spokesperson said a decision on their future would be made as soon as possible. Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the council was treating the incident “extremely seriously” and said dog owners must keep their pets safely secured.
