Arabic version: سياسة المملكة المتحدة تجبر روسيا على مرافقة الناقلات في القناة، كما يقول هيلي
Defence Secretary John Healey stated that Russia’s decision to send a warship to escort its shadow fleet vessels in the Channel indicates that UK sanctions are effectively impacting Moscow’s oil trade. Healey emphasized that the UK’s new policy is making it increasingly difficult for Russia to sell oil, particularly through its shadow fleet.
According to The Guardian, Healey highlighted that over 200 sanctioned Russian shadow fleet vessels have been put out of action, which has contributed to a significant drop in Russia’s oil revenues from illegal trades.
Healey noted that the UK is prepared to take further military action to interdict these shadow fleet vessels, working closely with allies. He suggested that the escorting of Russian vessels by warships reflects the effectiveness of the UK’s military posture and sanctions.
Despite the presence of Russian warships, Healey indicated that this should not deter the UK from enforcing its sanctions. He confirmed that more actions are planned in the coming weeks and months to address the situation and curb Russia’s illegal oil operations.
