According to BBC News, the UK could see as many as 10 consecutive days without rain after an unsettled end to October marked by back-to-back storms.

The Environment Agency said England experienced its wettest week in two years, with Storms Austen and Boelo, together with another area of low pressure on Monday, contributing to heavy rainfall. High pressure is now expected to bring a prolonged period of largely dry and calm weather.

Mist and fog are expected to remain persistent, including dense patches that may be slow to clear during mornings. Reduced visibility and travel disruption are possible. Once fog lifts, brighter spells should develop, though low cloud may linger in some places.

Saturday evening is expected to be largely dry for Halloween, although the Western Isles of Scotland could see a few spells of rain. Elsewhere, clear skies and light winds are forecast after dark, while temperatures gradually edge lower, particularly overnight and in the early mornings.

High pressure is forecast to stay over or close to the UK for at least 10 days, with little prospect of significant rainfall into early November. A change may begin around mid-November if Atlantic low-pressure systems approach, bringing wetter and windier conditions, with most areas likely to see average or above-average rainfall.
