According to France 24, the United Nations says drone attacks have become the leading cause of civilian death in Sudan. The UN said the attacks accounted for 80% of civilian casualties during the first four months of 2026.

Sudan has been in all-out war since April 2023. The conflict is between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, known as the RSF, and the Sudanese military.

At least 59,000 people have been killed in the war, according to Armed Conflict Location & Event Data, a conflict monitoring group. Aid groups say that total is an undercount and that the true number of people killed could be many times higher.
