According to The Guardian, Manchester United’s official Fans’ Forum, the Manchester United Supporters Trust, The 1958 and five other supporter groups have complained to the club after some fans had season tickets suspended in an anti-resale drive.

United contacted supporters who used six or more devices to access club-linked accounts or forward tickets, saying the activity could suggest seats were being bought for resale. Fans were asked to explain the use of multiple accounts, identify devices and provide photo identification.

Accounts were suspended and season tickets frozen, with supporters given three days to appeal. The groups said the club’s terms and conditions usually allow 14 days. In a joint statement, they said action against professional touting and automated purchasing must be “fair, proportionate and transparent”.

The groups said long-standing fans should not feel they are “being treated as suspects” without clear evidence, due process or a meaningful chance to respond. They backed the Fans’ Forum’s call for United to stop issuing further suspensions and halt season-ticket cancellations while discussions take place.

Some fans said multiple-device access could reflect helping friends or elderly relatives with technology. United’s position is understood to be that no bans or formal sanctions have been imposed, and any revoked season tickets will be reissued before the first home game of the season against Ipswich Town on 30 August.
