Bringing the grit and pulse of 1980s action into the 21st century, Unseen Enemy, an independent Australian production, held its national premiere on Wednesday 26 November at Ritz Cinemas Randwick.

Directed by Australian duo Mathew John Pearson and Salvatore Samperi—both lifelong fans of classic action cinema—the film represents their shared dream to craft a modern, home-grown action thriller set in Sydney. The production took more than two years to complete, exploring themes of redemption, corruption, crime, and moral ambiguity, with rapid-fire exchanges, brutal takedowns and unflinching violence driving the narrative.

To celebrate the launch, Enemy Production invited film enthusiasts, media, crew members and local supporters to walk the red carpet and meet the team behind the project. Guests were introduced to the cast, crew and sponsors while hearing stories from behind the scenes, memorable on-set experiences, and each contributor’s creative role.

The evening continued with cast interviews, allowing audiences to dive deeper into character motivations, personalities and the intense action sequences that shape the film. As a passion project created in partnership with independent filmmakers, many spoke about production challenges, experimentation, the friendships formed, and the growth they experienced during filming.

Co-director, writer and actor Salvatore Samperi expressed his excitement in seeing the movie brought to life and receiving real-time audience reactions. He highlighted subtle messages woven throughout the storyline and emphasised the film’s exploration of hidden organisations operating beneath Australia’s everyday life—an element he hopes will spark curiosity and awareness.

Crew members also reflected on the demanding filming schedule, the learning curve of independent production, and the bittersweet feeling of wrapping the project after such an intense shared journey. With anticipation building, cast and crew entered the cinema eager to witness how audiences would respond to the film on the big screen.

Following the screening, directors Salvatore Samperi and Mathew John Pearson were joined by cast members Artom Simin, Eirini Papachristos, Amelia Conway and Aaron Scully to discuss their characters, key props, scene construction and stunt work. Audience members were invited to ask questions, sparking conversations about costume design, long filming days, choreography, character depth and creative choices. The exchange blended curiosity, humour and celebration of what independent Australian filmmaking can achieve.

As the night concluded, guests mingled with the cast and crew, offering in-person feedback and conducting interviews until the event wrapped.

Unseen Enemy (2025) follows Levi Meli, a private investigator haunted by past mistakes, who embarks on a mission to help his friend find a missing sister linked to a clandestine crime organisation. His investigation draws him into conflict with a dangerous figure named Siroos and forces him to confront those who once threatened his family.

The film will be available on Prime Video and on DVD through Vision Films.
