According to Al Jazeera, hundreds of unveiled runners competed in Tehran, defying Iran’s hijab law in one of the largest displays of defiance since the 2022 “women, life, freedom” protests.

The race brought together women running without hijab in the Iranian capital. Al Jazeera described the event as a significant public display of defiance by unveiled women.

On the same day, veiled women marched in Tehran in support of the government and the war effort. Some people described the contrasting events as a tale of two cities.
