United States and Israeli forces have launched extensive airstrikes across Iran, targeting cities including Tehran and Isfahan. Local commanders have expressed readiness for a potential war of attrition that may include ground incursions from the US. According to Al Jazeera, these attacks have led to significant damage and electricity outages in several areas.
Air raids struck various locations in Tehran, causing disruptions to power supplies after shrapnel damaged a key power transfer line. In addition to the capital, industrial areas in Karaj were also hit, with a major pharmaceutical company suffering extensive damage from multiple projectiles. Iran produces more than 90 percent of its medicine domestically, making this attack particularly impactful.
In Isfahan, heavy bunker-buster bombs targeted military installations, resulting in large secondary explosions that illuminated the night sky. Reports indicate that at least four people were killed when a significant building at a religious center in Zanjan was struck. Iranian authorities claim that more than 2,000 individuals have died in the ongoing conflict since it escalated on February 28.
The US and Israel also targeted civilian nuclear sites and major steel manufacturers in Iran. In a recent development, President Donald Trump threatened to attack Iran’s oil and gas infrastructure, including power generation facilities. Iranian military leaders have maintained a defiant stance, indicating they are prepared to retaliate against US and Israeli forces.
Additionally, Iranian authorities have intensified their crackdown on dissent, executing members of the Mojahedin-e-Khalq group and issuing new indictments against individuals accused of aiding foreign powers. The judiciary has warned of severe punishments for those deemed threats to national security, including asset confiscation and execution. Meanwhile, the Iranian government continues to navigate complex negotiations regarding the ongoing conflict, as the situation remains volatile.
