Arabic version: الولايات المتحدة تطلق عمليات قتالية كبيرة في إيران بعد الهجوم الإسرائيلي

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the US has launched “major combat operations” in Iran. His comments came after Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said his country had launched a “pre-emptive” attack on the country.

According to BBC News, military action was something that had been anticipated “for weeks”.

The situation in Iran has been tense, particularly with ongoing anti-government protests and a reported crackdown that has resulted in significant casualties. An Iranian security official recently stated that 2,000 people have been killed so far after a crackdown on weeks of anti-government protests, raising concerns about the government’s response to dissent.

The US administration has also indicated that it is considering “very strong options” in response to the unrest in Iran, which could include further military intervention. This latest development marks a significant escalation in the already volatile relations between the involved nations.
