The United States military has said its forces have destroyed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) command and control facilities and air defence installations as heavy US-Israel attacks on Iran continued for a fourth day. According to Al Jazeera, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that it also destroyed missile and drone launch sites but did not provide evidence for these claims.
On Monday, CENTCOM claimed that US forces had struck more than 1,250 targets in Iran and destroyed 11 Iranian ships. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of six US service personnel due to Iranian retaliatory attacks over the weekend on Kuwait. Kuwait mistakenly shot down three US F-15E fighter jets during these attacks, but all crew members were safely recovered.
In the Iranian province of Bushehr, five members of the IRGC’s air force and navy were reported killed in US-Israeli attacks. US President Donald Trump indicated that military operations could extend beyond the initially projected four-to-five-week timeframe.
Explosions were reported throughout Tehran and in cities like Isfahan and Shiraz as Israeli air forces conducted operations targeting Iran’s air defence systems. Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee noted that Israeli aircraft were engaged in multiple operations, including attacks on personnel operating Iran’s defence systems and ballistic missile launch platforms.
In a related escalation, the Israeli army launched simultaneous attacks on Beirut, targeting positions purportedly belonging to Hezbollah. These attacks followed earlier airstrikes that resulted in significant casualties, with reports indicating at least 52 deaths and 154 injuries.
The United Nations has expressed deep concern over the humanitarian impact of the ongoing military operations, particularly regarding attacks on civilians, schools, and hospitals. UN officials emphasized the need for maximum restraint and compliance with international humanitarian law, highlighting the serious threat posed to children amid the conflict.
