Arabic version: الولايات المتحدة تكشف تفاصيل اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار مع إيران قبل مراسم التوقيع
A senior United States official has read the text of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to end the US-Israel war with Iran during a call with reporters. This account marks the clearest communication from the Trump administration regarding the agreement, which is scheduled to be signed in a ceremony by both sides on Friday. According to Al Jazeera, neither the US nor Iran has released a physical copy of the agreement, and Iranian officials have not confirmed the US version of the text.
The MOU is designed to halt fighting on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and includes provisions for lifting the US naval blockade. Additionally, it aims to open the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic and initiate 60 days of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of US sanctions.
Key elements of the agreement include the US committing to grant sanctions waivers for Iran’s fossil fuel industry and a $300 billion US-backed reconstruction plan. The US official indicated that the initial deal had already been signed electronically by the US and Iran, but both sides remain free to walk away before the planned signing on Friday.
The memorandum includes a series of commitments from both the United States and Iran, emphasizing mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. The agreement also outlines mechanisms for addressing Iran’s nuclear program and the status of financial transactions related to Iranian assets. The final deal is expected to be negotiated within a maximum of 60 days, extendable by mutual consent.
