Arabic version: نائب الرئيس الأمريكي يعلن عن تقدم في المفاوضات مع إيران
United States Vice President JD Vance has said he believes progress is being made in negotiations with Iran, despite President Donald Trump rejecting Tehran’s latest proposal as unacceptable. The comments come as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent a collapse in the fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. According to Al Jazeera, Vance emphasized the importance of ensuring that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons during these discussions.
In Iran, Brigadier-General Mohammad Akrami Nia stated that the military remains at “the highest level of readiness”, warning that “there is no room for retreat” as tensions with the U.S. persist. Iranian officials have signaled their willingness to respond to any perceived threats. Additionally, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that countries collaborating with Israel would face consequences, particularly following revelations of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s alleged secret visit to the United Arab Emirates, which the UAE has denied.
The situation in Lebanon remains volatile, with Israel intensifying airstrikes that have reportedly killed at least 12 people in recent attacks, mostly south of Beirut. The Lebanese National News Agency reported that more than 10,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed in Lebanon since a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hezbollah. Despite ongoing talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington, the ceasefire appears to be tenuous, with both sides engaging in military actions.
As diplomatic discussions unfold, the conflict continues to escalate, with Iran and Israel both taking assertive stances. The international community is closely monitoring the situation as it develops, especially in light of the upcoming BRICS meeting where Iran’s role may be a significant topic of discussion.
