According to France 24, the United States is withholding a visa for Sudanese army chief al-Burhan ahead of his scheduled appearance at the United Nations.

The visa issue was reported in France 24’s “Eye on Africa” programme, issued on September 22, 2026. The report described al-Burhan as Sudan’s de facto leader and said his planned UN appearance was scheduled.

In the same edition, France 24 also reported that Ghana is strengthening its drugs authority following major drug busts in France, Belgium and South Africa. The programme additionally noted that Ivory Coast is entering its back-to-school season.
