According to The Guardian, Australia’s 27-21 rugby Test victory over Argentina in San Salvador de Jujuy extended the Wallabies’ winning run to four matches, but also exposed issues coach Les Kiss must address before the second Test in Mendoza.

Rob Valetini made a rare start at No 8 while filling in for captain Harry Wilson and produced a forceful display. Fraser McReight was man of the match against Los Pumas, adding pressure to selection decisions in a back row that also includes Carlo Tizzano, Tom Hooper and Charlie Cale.

Kiss rotated his pack heavily and Australia were rewarded with four lineout steals. Their first try came from a wide blind-side sequence involving McReight, Jeremy Williams and Josh Canham before Brandon Paenga-Amosa completed the move. Kiss said there would be further changes for the Mendoza match as he builds depth and refines execution.

The Wallabies also showed shortcomings in their kicking and game management. Finishing scrumhalf Tate McDermott had a kick charged down and another fail to find touch, while flyhalf Carter Gordon made errors off the boot despite returning after a facial injury. Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii made an influential 15-minute appearance off the bench at outside centre.

Wilson retains Kiss’s backing and is expected to return for the second Test. Australia have suffered difficult second outings in Argentina in recent years, including a 67-27 loss two years ago, leaving the side with another demanding test of its evolving combinations.
