Arabic version: قرن فول يحسم فوز أستراليا بسلسلة مباريات اليوم الواحد أمام بنغلادش
According to The Guardian, Georgia Voll’s unbeaten 131 from 97 balls powered Australia to a nine-wicket win over Bangladesh in the second women’s ODI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, securing an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
Bangladesh made 220-6 after Sobhana Mostary scored 118 from 134 deliveries and captain Nigar Sultana finished unbeaten on 74 from 114. Their 195-run fourth-wicket partnership was the highest against Australia in women’s ODI history, the largest for any Bangladesh wicket in women’s ODIs, and the foundation of Bangladesh’s highest total against Australia.
Mostary and Sultana came together at 8-3 in the eighth over. Mostary’s innings set a record for the highest score by a No 5 against Australia in women’s ODI history and was the best by a Bangladesh batter. Australia quick Megan Schutt took 4-36, including the wicket of Mostary when she hit her leg stump.
Australia’s chase was led by Voll and Phoebe Litchfield, who put on 162 in 119 deliveries for the opening wicket. Litchfield made 70 from 51 balls, while Voll’s century was her third in ODIs and came in her 15th match. Australia reached 221-1 in 28.1 overs.
Voll, 23, became the first woman to score two ODI centuries at Allan Border Field, having made 101 against India there in 2024. Her 131 was also the highest individual women’s ODI score at the venue, surpassing a mark Mostary had equalled earlier in the day.
“I love batting out there with Phoebe and to have a partnership and get the team off to a good start was the most important thing,” Voll said. Both teams were unchanged from the opening match of the three-game series, which Australia won by seven wickets.
