West Bromwich Albion have sacked head coach Eric Ramsay after only nine games in charge, with the club just one point above the Championship relegation zone. Ramsay, who was appointed on 11 January, took over the team when they were 18th in the league, but failed to secure a single victory during his tenure.

According to BBC News, Ramsay’s last match was a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic, where the team managed to take the lead for the first time under his management. His record included four draws and four losses, culminating in a winless streak of ten games that dropped the club deep into a relegation battle.

The club’s statement confirmed Ramsay’s departure, along with that of assistant coach Dennis Lawrence. First-team coach James Morrison will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis. Ramsay’s brief spell at The Hawthorns is noted for its lack of success, characterized by a win percentage of 0% and the heaviest home defeat in the club’s history.

Ramsay’s management style and tactical decisions have come under scrutiny, particularly his switch to a 3-4-3 formation that did not suit the players. His short-lived tenure has sparked discussions about the club’s decision-making process in hiring young coaches, as this marks the fourth head coach change in just over a year.

James Morrison, now in his third interim role within 11 months, is determined to stabilize the team as they face a challenging end to the season with 12 matches remaining. Meanwhile, the club’s chairman, Shilen Patel, will begin the search for his fourth head coach.
