According to ABC News, a woman has been charged with domestic violence-related murder after an 81-year-old man was found dead in a creek on a property at Teven, west of Ballina, on the NSW north coast.

Police were called to a house on Teven Road just after midday on Thursday following reports of a concern for welfare. Officers found the man’s body in a creek on the property, police said.

A crime scene was established and an on-site investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death is underway. NSW Police alleged the man and the woman were known to each other.

A 51-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Lismore Police Station. She was later taken to Lismore Base Hospital for assessment before being released back into police custody on Friday morning.

Police said the woman was returned to the station and charged with murder. She was refused bail and was due to appear before a bail division court on Saturday.
