Arabic version: اتهام امرأة بقتل إسحاق أور
According to ABC News, a 70-year-old Forest Lake woman has been charged with murder (domestic violence) over the 2023 death of her non-verbal half-brother, Isaac Oar, in Ayr, North Queensland. Detectives from the Crime Command Homicide Investigation Unit and Ayr Criminal Investigation Branch arrested the south Brisbane woman on Tuesday. She is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
Mr Oar, also known as “Ike”, was found unresponsive at a house in Ayr on August 10, 2023. The 56-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. First responders described the situation as “confronting”.
Mr Oar had Down Syndrome and was a recipient of the National Insurance Disability Scheme. Police said their investigation found he was experiencing serious malnourishment and weighed 29 kilograms at the time of his death.
Police described the investigation as complex and said they examined Mr Oar’s health, care and treatment throughout his life. At the time of the investigation, Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said Mr Oar had not received professional medical treatment in well over a decade. He said there had “obviously been years of neglect in some format”.
