According to ABC News, a woman has died after a fire at a unit on Stanley Street in Frankston on Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the blaze shortly before 5pm. Crews found the lower level of a two-storey unit on fire and brought it under control about half an hour later.

A woman who has not yet been identified was found dead inside the home. No one else was at the property at the time.

Police said the circumstances of the fire have not yet been determined. A crime scene has been established and an arson chemist is due to attend as the investigation continues.
