According to BBC News, world champion Wu Yize defeated Shaun Murphy 6-5 to reach the Shanghai Masters semi-finals after a deciding-frame error gave the Chinese player an opportunity to clear the black.

Wu, ranked fourth in the world, had led 3-1 before Murphy fought back to move 5-4 ahead in their third-round match. The 22-year-old compiled his fifth break of more than 50 in the contest to force a decider.

Murphy, of England, missed a red while leading 62-29 in the final frame. Wu held his nerve to complete another close victory. The pair were meeting for the first time since Wu won the World Championship final in May.

Wu said he had made “a lot of mistakes” and had not expected another chance in the deciding frame. He will play England’s Judd Trump in the last four after Trump beat Scotland’s John Higgins 6-0, making three consecutive century breaks in the final three frames.

In the other semi-final, defending champion Kyren Wilson will meet 2025 world champion Zhao Xintong. Wilson recovered from 5-3 down to beat Mark Williams in a deciding frame, while Zhao defeated Australia’s Neil Robertson 6-0.
