Arabic version: شي جين بينغ يستضيف مأدبة دولة لدونالد ترامب في بكين
Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted a state banquet for US President Donald Trump at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, showcasing both leaders’ commitment to fostering ties between their nations. The event featured a menu of Beijing roast duck, pork buns, and an American-inspired dessert of tiramisu, highlighting a blend of cultural elements.
During the banquet, President Xi emphasized the potential for the US and China to work together for global well-being, stating, “Achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making America great again can totally go hand in hand… and advance the wellbeing of the whole world.” This sentiment was echoed by President Trump, who praised the longstanding connections between the two countries.
According to ABC News, the evening was marked by a light-hearted atmosphere, with members of both administrations mingling amicably. However, President Xi also issued a caution regarding Taiwan, warning that any missteps could push their two countries into “conflict.”
The leaders discussed a range of topics, including the ongoing Iran war and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, agreeing on the necessity of keeping the strait open for energy flow. Their discussions are set to continue, with further meetings scheduled for Friday, where they will seek to address more substantive issues between their countries.
