The Commissioner of Yei River County on Wednesday briefed the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, on the current security situation in the county. Commissioner Emmanuel Taban reported that security remains relatively calm, with residents going about their daily lives without fear. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining stability and ensuring the safety and protection of all citizens.

The meeting also focused heavily on ongoing development initiatives and efforts to strengthen security mechanisms across the county. Among the key projects discussed was the rehabilitation of the Wuluturu Bridge, which is progressing well and is expected to be completed later this year. Governor Adil pledged continued support for development projects in Yei River County, highlighting their importance to local growth and connectivity.

In addition, the Governor directed the county commissioner to ensure that Ambororo cattle herders leave the town immediately, citing concerns over public order and safety.

The two leaders further addressed the issue of criminal gangs operating in the county. They stressed the need for a firm crackdown on gang activity, noting that these groups pose a serious threat to security and have been linked to loss of life. Reports indicate that gang members have been involved in snatching property, with women and girls being the primary targets. Authorities emphasised that decisive action is necessary to restore full security and protect vulnerable members of the community.
