A series of strikes targeted the Yemeni rebel-held port city of Hodeidah Saturday, said Houthi-run media, which reported a fuel depot in the port had been hit.
AFP’s correspondent in Hodeidah reported hearing several loud explosions as the Houthi-run Al Masirah television said a “series of strikes” that hit “fuel storage facilities” at the port.
Citing the health ministry, the report said the attack caused casualties, without elaborating.
The strikes came a day after a Houthi drone attack killed a civilian in a Tel Aviv apartment building, drawing Israeli threats of retaliation.
The Houthis said they “carried out a specific military operation, which consisted of targeting one of the important targets in the occupied Jaffa region, what is now called Israeli Tel Aviv”.
Eight people were also wounded following the drone explosion, which seems to have evaded detection by Israel’s famed air defences.
Al-Masirah TV initially said that US and British forces carried out the strikes but later deleted the reference to them.
