Young people in the Auburn Electorate will benefit from an exciting new project funded under the NSW Government’s Youth Opportunities program which is delivering an additional $735,000 in grants to fund youth-led projects as the state celebrates NSW Youth Week 2025 from 9-17 April.

Auburn Youth Centre is one of 16 organisations to receive up to $50,000 to design and deliver projects under the program.

Their project Sport, Wellbeing, Events and Teamwork Training (SWEATT) will empower and engage local young people by offering a sports-based program to develop leadership skills and create employment pathways.

Young people will help drive and shape the project every step of the way. This innovative approach fosters young people’s connection to their community and provides an opportunity to forge leadership, communication, and management skills to help them to achieve their full potential.

The 16 new grant recipients are in addition to 35 Youth Opportunities projects already awarded $1.5 million in grant funding in the current round of the program.

Since it was first launched in 2012, the Youth Opportunities program has provided $19.8 million in funding to 434 projects across NSW.
