Arabic version: تشانغ أندا يفوز بإثارة إعادة وضع الكرة السوداء في بطولة الصين المفتوحة
According to BBC News, Zhang Anda beat world number three Zhao Xintong 6-5 in the first round of the China Open, potting a respotted black in a dramatic deciding frame.
Zhang, ranked 19th in the world, recovered after falling 3-0 behind and moved into a 5-4 lead. Zhao, last year’s world champion, then forced the match into a final frame.
Zhang held a 57-0 advantage in that frame before Zhao fought back to take the lead with only the black remaining. Zhang potted the black to force a respot, the tie-break procedure used when a frame finishes level, and then prevailed.
“Today was just my day,” Zhang said. “I hope that I can go far [in this tournament], I don’t want them [two pots of the black] again. I was too nervous.” He will next play England’s Chris Wakelin.
Zhao said he had made too many mistakes and did not deserve to win. Elsewhere, world number five John Higgins was knocked out in the first round, losing 6-4 to 2015 world champion Stuart Bingham.
