A constructive meeting took place at the Lebanese Consulate in Sydney between the Consul General and the Maronite Catholic Society aimed at enhancing community service.
On Thursday, March 5, the Consul General of Lebanon in Sydney, Raymond Chamlati, welcomed a delegation from the Maronite League in Australia at the consulate. The delegation included MCS President Jean Chidiac, former presidents Anthony El-Hachem and Joseph Makari, official representative Ann Farah Hill, Treasurer Jocelyne Charbel Badawi, Secretary Amal Hamwi Khalifa, along with members Nadia Obeid and Joseph Zallouh.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Consul General welcomed the delegation, highlighting his role and responsibilities towards the Lebanese community in Australia. He affirmed his commitment to making every effort to facilitate community members’ transactions through a new action plan aimed at developing the consulate’s work processes and expediting service completion. He also emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the consulate and the Lebanese community, commending the Maronite Catholic Society’s role in supporting Lebanon and standing by the Lebanese people, especially following the Beirut port explosion crisis.
For his part, MCS President Jean Chidiac thanked the Consul General for the warm reception, wishing him success in his duties on behalf of both himself and the League members. He expressed hope that his term would mark a fruitful start for the benefit of the Lebanese community in Australia. Chidiac also confirmed that the Maronite Catholic Society has always stood by the Lebanese consulate and expressed its full readiness to collaborate and contribute to efforts supporting the community.
The visit was characterized by a constructive tone, during which discussions were held on a project aimed at supporting the Lebanese consulate in Sydney, given the logistical and financial challenges it faces. There is hope that this project will come to fruition soon and be officially announced at the appropriate time, as it will positively impact the facilitation of transactions for the Lebanese community and enhance consular services.
