A NEW HIGH SCHOOL FOR MELOSE PARK

Date

Spread the love

A Minns Labor Government will build a new high school in Melrose Park in its first term to ensure growing communities have access to public education.

This will accommodate the rapid population growth in the area with 11,000 homes expected to be built in Melrose Park over the coming years.

The high school will cater for Melrose Park and surrounding suburbs.

The former Marsden High School site nearby was closed down and moved to Meadowbank, with the former site now being turned into recreational facilities.

A Minns Labor Government will also commit to a full upgrade of Melrose Park Public School with a new onsite public preschool, to ensure access to high quality education from preschool through to year 12.

After 12 years, the Liberals just don’t get it. They approve more and more housing lots but don’t deliver the infrastructure needed to support these growing communities.

It’s a similar picture across Western Sydney, where communities have overcrowded schools, or worse yet no public schools at all, because Dominic Perrottet has failed to deliver.

Chris Minns, NSW Labor Leader:

“As the son of a public school teacher, I know how important a good education is.”

“Growing communities need schools. Time and time again, the Government promises big on infrastructure and failures to deliver.

“NSW Labor has already promised a new primary school in the Carter Street precinct, and we’ll build a new high school in Melrose Park.

“11,000 new houses are expected in the local area in the coming years and we need to make sure there are enough schools to accommodate the local community”.

Donna Davis, Labor candidate for Parramatta:

“After 12 long years, it’s time for a change of Government in NSW and a fresh start for Parramatta.”

“I’m determined to ensure Parramatta has the necessary infrastructure to support our growing and thriving community, including housing, schools, parks, playgrounds and transport.”

“A new school in Melrose Park is a great win for our community.”

Lyndal Howison, Labor candidate for Ryde:

As a school teacher, I want every child to have access to good public education.”

“But overcrowded schools mean demountables are filling playgrounds, that’s failing our students and our communities.”

“Melrose Park sits on the border of the electorate of Ryde and I’m proud that if a Minns Labor Government is elected, we’ll deliver the fresh start education needs.”
