Arabic version: تسارع نمو إيرادات AWS في الربع الثالث
According to Cnbc, Amazon Web Services reported third-quarter revenue of $45.98 billion, up 39% from a year earlier. The result exceeded the $45.29 billion consensus estimate among analysts polled by StreetAccount, while second-quarter growth had been about 37%.
AWS generated $17.77 billion in third-quarter operating income, a 55% increase and above the $16.97 billion StreetAccount consensus. The cloud segment now represents almost 23% of Amazon’s revenue, a record. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said AWS core compute and storage revenue grew at their fastest rates in several years, and the unit’s overall growth rate was its highest since the fourth quarter of 2021.
Amazon remains the largest cloud provider by revenue, while growth has also accelerated at Alphabet and Microsoft. Alphabet said Google Cloud, which includes infrastructure and Google Workspace subscriptions, more than doubled in the third quarter. Microsoft’s first earnings report to disclose Azure revenue in dollars showed Azure at 72% of AWS’s size, compared with 58% two years earlier.
Cloud providers are expanding data-center capacity for artificial-intelligence demand. AWS said during the quarter that it would broaden its portfolio of Nvidia graphics processing units for AI workloads. The company also acquired data-analysis startup DuckLabs and signed agreements with Meta and OpenAI. Jassy said Amazon intends to make Trainium chips available outside AWS starting late in 2027, following customer demand for the chips used to train models.
Jassy said AWS could grow more than 40% in each of 2027 and 2028 and become a trillion-dollar revenue business within five to 10 years. AWS first introduced services in 2006, before Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
