According to ABC News, Woodville IGA owner Marc Schirripa narrowly escaped injury after a car reversed through a wall of the Adelaide western suburbs supermarket on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the store on Port Road about 1:30pm. Mr Schirripa said he was checking stock in an aisle containing snacks and confectionery when the vehicle entered the building, sending shelves and packages flying.

“It felt like a big wave shooting up behind me, hitting me from behind, pushing me up against the shelves,” Mr Schirripa said. He was examined by paramedics at the scene and said he was “a very lucky man”.

SA Police said the 31-year-old woman driving the car and her passenger were not injured. The driver was fined for reversing “further than necessary”.

Mr Schirripa said his wife and father heard the impact from the other side of the shop and ran over. He said repairs were expected to take a couple of weeks, only a month after the supermarket opened.
