According to BBC News, Catherine, Princess of Wales, visited the Royal Marsden hospital in London on Friday after completing a charity Three Peaks Challenge earlier this year to support a new unit at the hospital. She told staff the climb was her “small way” of giving back and saying thank you for her care.

Catherine, who announced she was receiving cancer treatment in March 2024 and said in January 2025 that she was in remission, climbed the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours in June. The amount raised has not been made public. The money will support The Centre for Holistic Wellbeing and Recovery, intended to provide complementary healing alongside clinical care.

During the visit, the princess spoke with staff and patients receiving treatment for breast cancer, head and neck cancer and a brain tumour. She discussed the importance of support beyond physical treatment, including nature, nutrition and therapeutic care. Catherine said cancer was not only about physical changes, describing a “mind-body aspect” and the value of professionals who can help patients navigate it.

A patient said access to a therapist had been a “lifesaver”, while another spoke about seeking new experiences after a diagnosis. Catherine said this showed the importance of “making the most of life”. One patient said he had forgotten she was a princess while speaking with her, instead seeing her as another cancer patient from the ward community. The hospital visit followed Catherine’s trip to Liverpool on Thursday with Prince William to support the launch of a suicide prevention project.
