According to ABC News, Seers was initially brought to police attention after being struck by a car nearby. Following this, he was taken to the hospital, where he was later charged with two counts of domestic violence murder.

During a court appearance, Seers’ defense lawyer, Nicholas Andrews, indicated that his client suffers from a diagnosed schizoaffective disorder. Andrews requested that the case be moved to Beenleigh, emphasizing the need for a mental health assessment once Seers is transferred to a remand center.

The court proceedings were adjourned to the following week, with Andrews acknowledging the sensitive nature of the case. He expressed condolences to those impacted by the incident, while also noting the importance of the ongoing legal process and the mental health considerations involved.
