Dr. Abraham Constantin Elected as the New President of the World Lebanese Cultural Union

In a significant moment for Lebanese communities around the world, Dr. Abraham Constantin has been elected as the new president of the World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU) for a three-year term. The election took place during the Union’s twentieth conference, held at the Adnan Kassar Building in Beirut.

The voting was conducted in the presence of an official representative from the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities. Dr. Constantin earned a strong mandate with 64 votes, securing the confidence of delegates representing the global Lebanese diaspora.

After his election, Dr. Constantin expressed his happiness at returning to Lebanon after many years in Australia. He thanked members for their trust and affirmed his commitment to serving and uniting Lebanese communities across continents, preserving cultural identity, and strengthening ties with the homeland.

The conference also resulted in the election of a new administrative body, with key positions including:

  • Ali Nehme Nesr – First Vice-President
  • Consul Mouhamad El Jouzou, Hussein Moussa, Elie Najm – Vice-Presidents (by acclamation)
  • Dr. Imad Sejed – Treasurer (by acclamation)
  • Mohammad Raslan – Secretary-General

Additionally, at Dr. Constantin’s request, Irene Olbrecht was appointed Honorary President, and Henry Bou Saab was named Assistant Secretary-General for Presidential Affairs.

The newly elected council is set to hold its first meeting soon to outline its strategic plan for the coming years, aiming to expand cultural, educational, and community-driven initiatives that connect Lebanese people across the world.

Dr. Abraham Constantin’s election marks a new chapter for the WLCU, reinforcing its mission to safeguard Lebanese heritage and strengthen the global network of Lebanese communities.
