Arabic version: هجمات الطائرات المسيرة في مطارات دبي وأبوظبي تترك قتيلاً واحداً
According to BBC News,
One person has been killed and 11 injured at airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as Iran launched attacks across the Middle East in response to a massive and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel. Authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed a drone targeting Zayed International Airport was intercepted, leading to falling debris that killed one person and injured seven.
Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest by passenger traffic, was damaged in an incident that injured four staff members. Thousands of flights have been grounded to and from the region, marking one of the most serious disruptions to global travel since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Iran’s military response included ballistic missiles and drone attacks targeting US allies and assets across the Gulf region. Explosions were reported in Doha, Dubai, and Manama as Iran retaliated against perceived threats. Countries such as Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait intercepted missiles aimed at their territories, although falling debris caused damage in various locations.
In Dubai, debris from an aerial interception caused a fire at the Jebel Ali deep sea port, while the Fairmont The Palm hotel experienced a large explosion, with video evidence showing significant damage. Additionally, the Burj Al Arab hotel suffered a minor fire due to debris from an intercepted drone. Reports also indicated damage at Bahrain’s airport from a drone strike, and ongoing attacks were reported into Sunday morning.
