According to BBC News,

Emma Raducanu faces a challenging first-round match at the French Open, where she will compete against Argentine clay-court specialist Solano Sierra. The British number one was unable to secure a seeding for the tournament, falling to 37th in the world rankings. While Raducanu could have encountered a more formidable opponent, 64th-ranked Sierra presents a significant test.

Should Raducanu triumph over Sierra, she is likely to meet Italy’s 2024 runner-up Jasmine Paolini in the second round. In the women’s singles, British number two Katie Boulter will open her campaign against American wildcard Akasha Urhobo, while Francesca Jones, the only other British player in the draw, will face Brazil’s 2023 semi-finalist Beatriz Haddad Maia.

In the men’s draw, Cameron Norrie, Britain’s only seeded player, will compete against Paraguay’s Adolfo Daniel Vallejo. Jacob Fearnley is set to face Argentina’s Juan Manuel Cerundolo, with world number one Jannik Sinner potentially awaiting in the second round. Sinner, who is favored to win the title with Carlos Alcaraz sidelined due to injury, begins his quest against French wildcard Clement Tabur.

Three-time champion Novak Djokovic faces a tough opening match against Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who is coached by former British number one Greg Rusedski. Djokovic aims for a record 25th major victory as he approaches his 39th birthday.

Raducanu’s season has been inconsistent, primarily due to a virus that limited her participation to just two tournaments since February. She returned to competition in Strasbourg but lost in straight sets to France’s Diane Perry. With her recent coaching change, having rehired Andrew Richardson, Raducanu’s performance at Roland Garros remains uncertain, especially given her struggles on clay and ongoing back issues.
