According to France 24, more than 1,400 Africans have been enlisted to fight for Russia in Ukraine since 2023, while families in Tunisia seek information about relatives who travelled to Russia for work or study.

The issue is absent from the agenda as African leaders and Russian officials gather for the Africa-Russia summit to discuss security, trade and political cooperation.

In Tunisia, concern is growing among relatives of several men whose fate remains unclear after they went to Russia. France 24’s team in Tunisia reported on families still searching for answers.
